World Aquatics Championships: Gaspard and Henveaux set Belgian records

Florine Gaspard and Lucas Henveaux have both broken Belgian national records in their respective events at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.
Gaspard qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:06.89, breaking the previous Belgian record of 1:06.97 set by Fanny Lecluyse in 2019. The 23-year-old's time put her 14th overall in the heats and was her first sub-1:07 swim of the year. The semi-finals for the top 16 swimmers will take place later on Monday.
Lucas Henveaux improved his own Belgian record in the men’s 200m freestyle, finishing in 1:46.03. This is one hundredth of a second faster than his previous best, set at the Paris Olympics last summer.
The 24-year-old recorded the seventh fastest time in the heats and will also compete in the semi-finals on Monday. The final is scheduled for Tuesday. Henveaux did not advance past the heats in the 400m freestyle on Sunday.
Roos Vanotterdijk will compete in the women’s 100m butterfly final on Monday afternoon, having also secured a place in the semi-finals of the 100m backstroke.
The World Aquatics Championships, which encompass all aquatic disciplines, run until 3 August, with the swimming run from 27 July to 3 August.
