Flanders' budget for top-level sports infrastructure doubles in 2025

The budget for top-level sports infrastructure in Flanders doubles this year, from 5 to 10 million euros, Sport minister Annick De Ridder has announced.
According to the decree, at least 5 million euros must be spent annually on top-level sports infrastructure in Flanders. This year, that figure has been raised to 10 million.
Local authorities and sports clubs submitted a total of 42 applications for major sports infrastructure. Of these, 36 were declared admissible. They were assessed on criteria such as reach and innovation, after which 14 were selected. These include the expansion of the Kempense Golf Club in Mol, the renovation of the swimming pool at KU Leuven university and a new field for the hockey club Indiana in De Pinte.
“Flanders is a top sports region. To remain so, it is crucial that the infrastructure keeps pace with our ambitions,” De Ridder said. “In recent years, our Flemish athletes have excelled at world level in disciplines such as hockey, volleyball and figure skating. These investments will enable them to continue to excel in the best possible conditions.”
