First edition of European Running Championships to take place in Leuven and Brussels

The governing council of European Athletics in Chorzow, Poland, decided on Sunday that Leuven and Brussels will host the first edition of the European Running Championships in April 2025.

The European Running Championships comprises the European Championships in the 10 km, half marathon and marathon. Leuven-Brussels and Frankfurt were the two final candidates to host the event.

After a presentation by both delegations, the board of European Athletics chose twhich will see all the races finishing in Leuven.

The concept of the European Running Championships was unveiled last April. It will be an open event, which means anyone will be able to register. Thousands of recreational runners will be able to run alongside the top European athletes in any of the three disciplines.
