Brussels City Hall dressed in fashion-inspired blooms for Flowertime 2025

The Brussels City Hall has been transformed into a spectacular floral showcase for the seventh edition of Flowertime, which runs from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 August. This year's biennial event celebrates Belgium's excellence in fashion and textile design by blending these disciplines with the art of floral arrangement.
Alternating with the famous Flower Carpet on the UNESCO-listed Grand Place, the ornate interiors of City Hall become the stage in between years. For 2025, over 100,000 blooms - including delphiniums, chrysanthemums, carnations, orchids, astilbes, thistles and germinis - have been paired with tulle and other fabrics to add bursts of colour and texture to the historic building's gilded yet sombre halls.
Thirty floral artists, mostly Belgian, have reimagined the Gothic landmark as an immersive, scented trail. “Floral art and textiles share a deep love for nature, design and touch,” said Pieter Tolbaert, Flowertime’s artistic director and general manager of Floraliën in Ghent. “Textiles offer a variety of structures and colours that pair beautifully with the organic shapes and delicate textures of flowers and plants.”
Delphine Houba, Brussels’ alderwoman for Culture, Tourism and Major Events, called the exhibition “a meeting of two creative worlds that converse naturally with floral art to deliver a unique sensory experience, where each composition embodies elegance, innovation and artistic beauty”.
Flowertime 2025 features artists from across Belgium’s three regions, as well as international florists from Argentina, Mexico and Ukraine. Organisers are prioritising sustainability by using biodegradable materials and flowers sourced from open-pick fields.
