Vanotterdijk claims bronze in 100m individual medley at World Cup meet in Westmont

On Friday, during the opening day of the second leg of the Swimming World Cup (short course) in Westmont, USA, Roos Vanotterdijk claimed bronze in the 100 m individual medley final. She also finished seventh in the 50 m backstroke, while Florine Gaspard placed seventh in the 50 m freestyle final.
Vanotterdijk secured the bronze medal in 57.41 seconds, behind American Gretchen Walsh, who won in 55.77 seconds. Earlier that day, Vanotterdijk won her 100m individual medley heat, qualifying for the final with the third-fastest time (58.13 seconds) of the eight finalists. In the 50 m backstroke heats, she earned the eighth and final qualifying spot with a time of 26.58 seconds.
Gaspard clocked 24.24 seconds in the 50 m freestyle final, also finishing seventh. She currently holds the Belgian record in that event with a time of 23.99 seconds. Alisée Pisane was eliminated in the heats of the 400 m freestyle.
Last week, at the opening short-course event of the season in Carmel, USA, Vanotterdijk won three bronze medals in the 50m and 100m butterfly and the 100m individual medley, while Gaspard won silver in the 50m breaststroke. The third and final leg of the series will take place in Toronto, Canada, from 23 to 25 October.
