Roos Vanotterdijk wins bronze at World Aquatics Championships

Roos Vanotterdijk won a bronze medal in the 50-metre butterfly final at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore on Saturday. The win makes her the first Belgian in history to win two medals at the same Championships.
Starting from lane 5, Vanotterdijk finished in 25.43 seconds, just 0.2 seconds off her Belgian record, which she set in the semi-finals. Gold went to US swimmer Gretchen Walsh in 24.83 seconds, with Australia's Alexandria Perkins taking silver in 25.31 seconds.
This is the second medal for the Belgian delegation at these World Championships and the fifth in the country's history, following Vanotterdijk's silver in the 100 m butterfly on Monday. Her first win marked the first time since 1998 that Belgium has secured a medal at the event.
Vanotterdijk also finished 10th in the semi-finals of the 100 m backstroke on Monday, 11th in the semi-finals of the 50 m backstroke on Wednesday, and tied for 11th place with Gaspard in the semi-finals of the 100 m freestyle on Thursday. On Saturday morning, she was eliminated in the heats of the 50 m freestyle.
