Two suspects arrested for Brussels shooting that left four injured

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting on Boulevard du Midi in Brussels last Wednesday, which left four people injured. The suspects are aged 16 and 18.
The underage suspect has been placed in a secure institution, while the adult suspect has been placed under arrest. The two were arrested shortly after the shooting, but the Brussels public prosecutor's office did not announce the arrests until Monday.
The shooting took place shortly after midnight on Wednesday, 8 October. Several police patrols heard gunshots and rushed to the scene, where they found four people injured, two of whom were in a critical condition. The victims were taken to hospital.
Weapon of war
Shortly after the incident, the police identified two suspects near the scene of the shooting. They attempted to flee on a scooter but were apprehended following a chase. They were found to be in possession of a weapon of war.
One of the suspects was an 18-year-old man. The investigating judge placed him under arrest for attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons, and gang formation. The second suspect was a 16-year-old boy, who was placed in a secure institution by the juvenile court.
“The public prosecutor's office would like to thank the Brussels police for their swift intervention, which made the arrest of the two suspects possible,” said Maryam Benayad, spokesperson for the public prosecutor's office.
