Polish MEP shares photo of attack on car in Brussels

According to Polish MEP Waldemar Buda, his car was shot at with an air rifle in Brussels on Monday. He shared a photo of his car on X. The police and the public prosecutor's office have not yet confirmed the incident. Buda was not in the car when it happened, but believes this was a deliberate attack against him.
Buda himself broke the news on social media on Monday afternoon. “They shot the entire side of my car with an air rifle. Brussels barbarism!” he wrote in his post. The photo accompanying the post shows the cracked window of his car's side door.
“There were nine precision shots. I was not in the car at the time of the attack, and only my car was shot at. It looks like a deliberate attack,” the politician wrote in a second post on X. “The Belgian security services are looking into it. Thank you for the many expressions of support.”
For the time being, it is unclear whether the attack had a political motive or whether it was an act of vandalism. Neither the Brussels police nor the Brussels public prosecutor's office can confirm at this stage that they have indeed opened an investigation into the incident, but the police are expected to communicate on this later. It is also not yet clear where exactly the incident took place.
Buda is a member of the right-wing conservative party Law and Justice (PiS) and was a minister in the previous Polish government. Since July 2024, he has been a member of the European Parliament for the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group.
