Mumford & Sons replace Stromae at Rock Werchter

British band Mumford & Sons will replace Stromae at Rock Werchter. Last month the Belgian artist announced that he was cancelling his entire tour for health reasons, forcing the festival organisers to look for a new headline act for the first day of the festival.

"Finding a replacement for Stromae is an almost impossible task," the organisers said on Monday. "We are delighted to announce that our friends Mumford & Sons have accepted the invitation to headline our opening day."

Mumford & Sons will be touring Europe from the beginning of July. They will arrive a few days earlier for Rock Werchter. "We look forward to welcoming the band back to Werchter after their mesmerising set as headliners in 2019." Their set on 29 June will be their first European show in more than three years.

Rock Werchter 2023 takes place from 29 June to 2 July in the festival park in Werchter. The line-up includes Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stormzy, Liam Gallagher, Oscar and the Wolf, Queens of the Stone Age, Fred Again, Rosalia, Lil Nas X, Sam Fender, Machine Gun Kelly, Iggy Pop and Editors.
