More than 41,000 visitors for fantasy fair FACTS in Ghent

More than 41,000 people visited the FACTS fantasy fair at Flanders Expo in Ghent this weekend. Among the main guests at this edition were actors Andrew Scott and Simon Pegg.
Fans of films, series, games and other pop culture gathered this weekend for the event. A total of 41,534 people, some dressed as their favourite characters, visited the fair. Actors, directors and authors were present.
Visitors could spot some famous faces, such as British actor Pegg, who starred in Mission Impossible and Shaun of the Dead. Other guests were Scott (Fleabag, Ripley, Sherlock), and Mary Mouser and Tanner Buchanan from Cobra Kai. Among the big Belgian names were director Jan Verheyen, cartoonist Lectrr and comic strip artist Merho.
“Even after almost 35 years of FACTS, you still look forward eagerly to the creativity that Belgium displays here, both among the visitors and at the various stands,” said organiser Anthony Audenaerd.
“I still get emotional about the togetherness of FACTS. When a child dressed up as a Pokémon gets sparkling eyes at the Nintendo stand. You only see that kind of magic here.”
The FACTS fair started in 1993 as a small gathering in Het Tonneke café in Ghent. Since then, it has grown into a major event attracting tens of thousands of visitors. The next edition will take place on 11 and 12 April.
