Logistics group Katoen Natie surpasses 3bn euros in revenue

International logistics group Katoen Natie achieved a record-breaking turnover of more than 3 billion euros in 2024, according to data from the Luxembourg Business Register reported by De Tijd.
The group’s net profit reached almost 250 million euros, with reduced foreign exchange losses cited as a contributing factor. Given its global footprint, currency fluctuations have a significant influence on Katoen Natie’s annual results.
While the company reinvests the majority of its profits, it issued 30 million euros in dividends last summer — triple the amount paid out the previous year.

In early June, it emerged that Belgian tax authorities were investigating large sums that entrepreneur Fernand Huts had allegedly transferred to the tax haven of Jersey over several years. Huts publicly condemned what he described as "a leak at the tax office".
The Special Tax Inspectorate is examining a corporate structure through which Huts reportedly moved hundreds of millions of euros in untaxed dividends from Belgium to a Jersey-based trust. The tax claim against Katoen Natie NV amounts to more than 66 million euros.
Founded in 1854 as a cooperative in the Port of Antwerp, Katoen Natie started out as a traditional port operator handling commodities such as cotton, jute, coffee and aluminium.
Since the 1980s, the company has expanded its activities across multiple sectors, including petrochemicals, consumer goods and automotive logistics, and has grown through a series of strategic acquisitions in Belgium and abroad.
