Flemish manufacturer United Petfood acquires Canadian factory

United Petfood, a manufacturer of dog and cat food based in Ghent, is acquiring a factory in Canada. The seller is the Legault Group, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
The factory in question is Jupiter in Drummondville, in the south of Quebec. United Petfoods describes this as a “significant step forward in its growth”. This marks the company’s first production facility in Canada.
Jupiter’s operations began in 2023. United Petfood already has a factory in the north of the US, in Indiana, following an acquisition in 2024.
The company has a total of more than 25 factories in France, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Romania and Turkey. Annual turnover exceeds 1.6 billion euros.
