Flemish pet food manufacturer United Petfood acquires Canadian factory

United Petfood, a manufacturer of dog and cat food based in Ghent, is acquiring a factory in Canada. The seller is the Legault Group, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
The factory in question is Jupiter in Drummondville, in the south of the province of Quebec. United Petfoods describes this as a “significant step forward in its growth”. This marks the company’s first production facility in Canada.
Jupiter’s operations began in 2023. According to the Ghent-based company, it is a high-tech factory. United Petfood already has a factory in the north of the US, in Mishawaka, Indiana, following an acquisition in 2024, as stated on the company’s website.
The company has a total of more than 25 factories in France (5), Poland (4), the United Kingdom (3), the Netherlands (6), Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Romania and Turkey. Annual turnover exceeds 1.6 billion euros.
