Flanders invests in affordable holidays for vulnerable families

Flemish Tourism minister Melissa Depraetere is allocating nearly 400,000 euros to support projects that help vulnerable families enjoy an affordable holiday.
Across Flanders, one in eight people cannot afford a week away. To ensure families with limited means can still go on holiday, Visit Flanders set up the Everyone Deserves a Holiday network.
Depraetere intends to keep strengthening that network in the coming years. This year, she is providing 396,752 euros in funding for 54 projects, each geared towards offering multi-day group holidays for vulnerable groups.
“For young people, vacations are the perfect opportunity to create unforgettable memories. For those who work hard or do their best every day, it's essential to get away for a while, to escape the daily grind,” says Depraetere. She calls it a “no-brainer” to continue investing in affordable holidays for families who need it most.
