EnergyVision wins majority of Flemish contract for public electric vehicle charge points

The Flemish government has awarded green energy provider EnergyVision the majority of the new concession for public AC charging stations in Flanders, the company has announced.
The government expects a total of around 8,000 electric vehicle charging points within this concession, with EnergyVision responsible for the roll-out and operation of 5,280 points. It will operate stations in Leuven, the Flemish periphery of Brussels, Antwerp, Mechelen and the Kempen, as well as Ghent, the Flemish Ardennes, Waasland and Aalst.
“We are particularly pleased to have secured this award based on both price and quality,” said CEO Maarten Michielssens. “We want to show every Fleming that green energy is the cheapest energy.”
The award means the company will comfortably exceed its previous medium-term targets for the number of charging points in Belgium. It comes on top of previous major contracts, including from train operator SNCB for the roll-out of public charging points in its car parks.
EnergyVision, which joined the Brussels stock exchange in July, will adjust its growth plans and targets for the coming years upwards as a result, it says.
