Cyclocross World Cup: Belgium begin tournament with mixed relay bronze

Belgium won the bronze medal in the mixed relay in the opening race of the Cyclocross World Championships in Tabór, Czech Republic, on Friday afternoon.

Like last year, Belgium finished third in the mixed relay at the championships. Sanne Cant and Michael Vanthourenhout piloted the Belgian six to third place.

The gold medal went to France after a nail-biting finish. Great Britain had to settle for silver. Canada were fourth, followed by Italy, the Czech Republic, the US, Slovakia, Poland and Austria.

This year's tournament is being held in the home town of Czech cyclist Zdenek Stybar. Riders will compete for titles in several age categories. Six rainbow jerseys will be up for grabs on Saturday and Sunday.
