Cinema Palace area in Brussels evacuated due to bomb threat

The area surrounding Cinema Palace on Boulevard Anspach in Brussels was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon following a bomb threat, Het Laatste Nieuws reported. The Brussels local police later confirmed the evacuation.

Metro lines 1 and 5 were interrupted between Arts-Loi and Comte de Flandre stations, and trams are currently not stopping at Bourse, Anneessens and De Brouckère, by police order, according to public transport operator STIB.

"We can currently confirm that we have evacuated the area around the Palace cinema and the nearby metro stations due to a bomb threat and are searching the area," said police spokesperson Linda Camarero-Verde. "We do not have any further information at this time."

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the terraces of nearby restaurants and cafés were also evacuated. The establishments themselves were not cleared, but no one is allowed outside. Anyone wishing to leave the area must do so under police escort.
