Boris Dilliès sworn in as Brussels minister-president

On Saturday morning, the Brussels Parliament elected a new head of government and four ministers to the Brussels government. Boris Dilliès, mayor of Uccle since 2017 and a member of MR, replaces Rudi Vervoort as Brussels minister-president. The five members of the government subsequently took the oath of office.
Next to his position as minister-president, Dilliès will also oversee Security and Prevention. "With his experience as mayor, he knows Brussels perfectly and has proven his abilities as a team leader," MR chairman Georges-Louis Bouchez wrote on X on Saturday. Valentine Delwart will replace him as mayor of Uccle.
Dilliès only learned of his appointment on Saturday morning. He received a phone call from Bouchez around 7 o'clock and then took some time to think about it. "It was somewhat of a surprise," he told press ahead of the parliamentary session. "I wasn't a candidate. But it's an honour and a big challenge, because we all know the challenges Brussels faces."
The other four ministers were also sworn in. Elke Van den Brandt (Groen) remains minister of Mobility, Public Works and Road Safety. Ahmed Laaouej (PS) becomes minister of Social Action and Solidarity, Local Authorities and Equal Opportunities. Dirk De Smedt (Anders) will oversee Budget and Finance, while Laurent Hublet (Les Engagés) takes on Employment and Economy.
For the MR state secretary post, Bouchez selected Audrey Henry, mayor of Schaerbeek, who will be responsible for Urban Development, Spatial Planning and Public Cleanliness. Karine Lalieux (PS) will oversee Housing, the Taxi Sector and Sports Infrastructure, while Ans Persoons (Vooruit) is tasked with Urban Renewal, Heritage, Climate and Environment.
After the five ministers took the oath, the session was suspended to allow Dilliès to head to the Royal Palace and take the oath before King Philippe of Belgium.
