Belgian women's squash team win bronze at European Team Championships

The Belgian women's squash team claimed bronze at the European Team Championships in Amsterdam on Saturday. After losing to France on Friday, Nele and Tinne Gilis both defeated their Scottish opponents to secure third place.
The Gilis sisters proved too strong for Scotland on Saturday. Nele Gilis beat Lisa Aitken 11-8, 11-4 and 11-4, before Tinne Gilis overcame Georgia Adderley 11-4, 11-7 and 11-2, clinching the medal for the Belgian squad, which also included Savannah Moxham and Marie Van Riet.
Belgium had beaten Wales 2-0 in the quarter-finals on Thursday, after victories against the Czech Republic (3-0) and Switzerland (3-0) in the group stage. On Friday, they fell to France (1-2) in the semi-finals, missing out on a fourth consecutive European Championship final. Belgium had reached the final in 2023 (silver), 2024 (gold) and 2025 (silver).
Belgium will have another shot at European gold at the European Individual Championships, which are scheduled to take place in Budapest in August.
