Belgian entertainment group Studio 100 posts record turnover and profit in 2025

The Belgian entertainment group Studio 100, known for the Plopsa theme parks and iconic Belgian children's TV characters such as Samson and Plop the Gnome, recorded record figures last year. In its international division, the Australian animation studio Flying Bark amongst others worked on an Avatar film for Paramount and a “Stranger Things” animated series for Netflix.

The entertainment group’s turnover last year stood at 330.15 million euros, smashing the previous turnover record of 260 million euros set in 2024. Operating profit rose from 64.35 million euros in 2024 to 108.57 million euros last year, whilst net profit rose from 18.6 million to 41.28 million euros.

The group’s three main pillars – Benelux (TV, music and theatre), Plopsa (the theme parks) and International (production and distribution of animated content) – each accounted for around a third of turnover. The musical 40-45 was one of the commercial successes, with 660,000 tickets sold.

The theme park division attracted 3.5 million visitors last year, an increase of 3 per cent compared to 2024. Plopsaland Deutschland, which underwent a rebranding in June, managed to break the 800,000 visitor mark last year. For that German park, Studio 100 has the same model in mind as for Plopsaland De Panne, with a water park due to open at the end of 2027 and accommodation options from 2028–2029.

In the International division, the Australian animation studio Flying Bark delivered several projects last year, including an Avatar film for Paramount and a “Stranger Things” animated series for Netflix.

“We’ve had a successful year,” said CEO Hans Bourlon. “No projects were put on hold, and at the same time, several have been exceptionally successful. I am confident that we can once again exceed 300 million euros in turnover this year.”
