1 dead, 8 trapped after partial collapse of German hotel
One person has died after a hotel in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate partially collapsed. Eight people are still trapped in the building, police said.
One floor of the hotel collapsed at about 23.00 on Tuesday in the town of Kröv on the Moselle river. There were 14 people in the building at the time, Trier police said in a press release. Five people were able to escape the building unharmed.
Rescuers have located the body of the person who died but have been unable to recover it, while eight people, some of whom are seriously injured, remain inside the building. Emergency services are in contact with some of the injured. Thirty-one residents have been evacuated from the area.
According to Dutch media, three Dutch nationals are involved: a 23-year-old woman and a two-year-old child have been recovered alive from the rubble, while the woman’s husband is still trapped.
