World Cup 2022: Croatia beats Morocco and takes bronze medal
This Saturday, 17 December, Croatia won the 2022 World Cup minor final against Morocco 2-1 at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
After a second place in 2018 and a third place in 1998, the Croats complete 2022 podium behind Argentina and France, who will face each other in the final on Sunday at 4 pm. Both countries have the chance to hang a 3rd world champion star on their shirt.
Croatia have presented their captain Luka Modric with another international medal. Morocco, after its exceptional career, obtained fourth place in the World Cup. Under the leadership of Walid Regragui, the Atlas Lions achieved the best performance ever by an African team in the World Cup.
At six minutes, the Croatian team won the first free kick. In a beautiful combination started by Lovro Majer, the Croatian defensive master Josko Gvardiol (1-0) found Bono's net. Moments later, Morocco returned to the attack with a free kick taken by Hakim Ziyech that found Achraf Dari (1-1) with a header.
In the last minutes of the first half, the world runners-up took the reins with Mislav Orsic (2-1). The Atalanta executioner wrapped a ball that ended up in Bono's right corner.
