Walter Van Beirendonck says goodbye to Antwerp Fashion Department

On Friday and Saturday, the renowned Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp held its annual fashion show. It was the last show with Antwerp Six fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck at the head of the Department.

Both bachelor and master students showed their final work. On the occasion of Van Beirendonck's departure, who is retiring after this academic year, the jury of this year's show consists of former Fashion Department students from all over the world. They are judging the collections of the current twelve Master's students, a group of up-and-coming designers from Belgium, South Korea, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Poland, China, Taiwan and Latvia.

94 bachelor students are also showing their creations on Friday and Saturday. The second-year students presented their own concepts as well as interpretations of historical costumes, while the third-year students were assigned the theme of world cultures alongside their own creations.
