Volvo Ghent produced 14 per cent more cars in 2025

The Volvo factory in Ghent, Belgium's last car factory, built more than 212,000 cars in 2025 - about 14 per cent more than the previous year. The XC40 family remains the most important , but the new electric EX30 model also got off to a strong start. Almost 40 per cent of the cars produced in Ghent were electrified.
A total of 212,177 vehicles rolled off the production line at Volvo Car Ghent last year, compared to 186,313 in 2024. That was a transition year because the factory management and more than 6,500 employees had to quickly prepare for the arrival of the EX30. This is a relatively affordable electric car that Volvo wants to sell in large volumes and which is only built in China and Ghent.
The XC40 and EX40 remain the backbone of production. Last year, 156,977 of these models rolled off the production line. Of the new EX30, which began its first year of production in Ghent in 2025, 21,845 cars have already been built. In addition, the factory produced 24,565 V60 and V60 Cross Country cars and 8,790 EC40s.
The electrification of the model range continued. In 2025, 39.6 per cent of all cars produced in Ghent were electrified: 34.2 per cent were fully electric and 5.4 per cent were hybrids.
For 2026, the focus is on further scaling up the EX30, both in the standard version and in the Cross Country variant, Volvo Car Ghent announced on Monday.
