Video game Baldur's Gate 3 main winner at Belgian Game Awards

Ghent-based Larian Studios' video game Baldur's Gate 3, which has already won several international awards, once again outshone the competition at the Belgian Game Awards in Brussels on Friday. The awards ceremony dedicated to Belgian games took place at the Heysel, on the eve of the Belgian video game fair Gameforce.
Best scenario, best soundtrack, best game design, audience award and video game of the year: Baldur's Gate 3 won all the prizes in the categories in which it was nominated. The showpiece of Ghent-based game developer Larian Studios has already been lauded as game of the year at the international Game Awards in Los Angeles and at the BAFTAs in the UK, and is now receiving the highest Belgian award.
“The game stayed true to the studio's DNA while relying on an impressive IP [Intellectual Property, meaning the game is part of a series],” stated the jury. “A huge amount of effort and meaning is put into the storylines. Those storylines and characters became real for many players, and that makes the game unique.”
The Man Came Around by studio Pipette Inc won the award for best graphics, while virtual reality game Breachers by Triangle Factory won in the category of “Best multiplayer”. Grazzlers by Blot Blastr Games was elected the best game in augmented or virtual reality.
Please, Touch The Artwork 2 by Thomas Waterzooi, which immerses the gamer in the world of Belgian painter James Ensor, received the award for best applied game. That is a game that serves a purpose beyond mere entertainment. Finally, students from the Namur university college Albert Jacquard were honoured for their creation Nebelmer.
The Belgian Game Awards are organised by amongst others the Belgian sector federation BelgianGames and the Flemish games association Flega. The annual ceremony has been taking place since 2016.
