US to introduce import tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China

The United States will introduce import tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China from 1 February, the White House has confirmed.
US president Donald Trump aims to press ahead with his plans to introduce import tariffs of 25 per cent against Mexico and Canada and of 10 per cent against China on Saturday, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said.
She dismissed a report by news agency Reuters that the tariffs would not be introduced until 1 March. “I have seen that report and it is fake,” she said. “I can confirm that tomorrow is the deadline.”
