United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey sign declaration on Gaza

The United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey have signed a declaration on Gaza during a brief ceremony held in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
"The document is going to spell out rules and regulations and lots of other things," said US president Donald Trump before signing, repeating twice that "it's going to hold up". Trump did not provide further details on the text signed at the ceremony.
The official signing took place in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh, with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in attendance. Neither Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor Hamas representatives were present.
International summit
An international summit is scheduled for later on Monday, attended by German chancellor Friedrich Merz, British prime minister Keir Starmer, and French president Emmanuel Macron, among others.
On Saturday, the office of Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced that he and US president Donald Trump would be chairing a “peace summit” on Gaza on Monday, which would be attended by “leaders from more than 20 countries”.
'New chapter'
“The summit aims to end the war in the Gaza Strip, strengthen efforts to establish peace and stability in the Middle East, and open a new chapter in regional security,” read the announcement.
Trump had previously said that he would meet with "many leaders" in Egypt on Monday to discuss the future of the Gaza Strip. The United Nations secretary-general, António Guterres, and the president of the European Council, António Costa, will also be in attendance.
