Twelve Belgian beers win awards in Munich

Belgium has once again confirmed its brewing prowess. Twelve of its beers took home prizes at the prestigious European Beer Star competition in Munich.
Lembeek-based Boon Brewery shone brightest, claiming gold for its Oude Geuze and two silvers for other brews. Fellow Pajottenland brewer Den Herberg from Buizingen earned bronze for its own Oude Geuze.
Roeselare’s Rodenbach, part of Dutch group Royal Swinkels, picked up two bronzes for Alexander and Vintage 2022. Mechelen’s Het Anker, Ypres-based Kazematten and Watou’s St. Bernardus were also among the award-winners.
From Wallonia, Saint-Feuillien of Le Roeulx struck gold with its Grisette Blonde Bio, while its Quadruple secured bronze. La Queue de Charrue Vieille Brune, brewed for drinks company Vanuxeem in Ploegsteert, also took home a gold medal.
This year’s competition saw more than 2,000 entries, a third of them from Germany.
