Threat level 4 in Brussels after shooting

Belgian security services have raised the threat level to its highest after the shooting of two Swedish nationals in Brussels on Monday evening. Parts of the public transport network were closed and a football match between Belgium and Sweden in Brussels was abandoned at half-time.

The shooting close to the centre of Brussels seems to be a terrorist attack. The shooter or shooters are still on the run. Police therefore ask for vigilance and parts of the metro network have been closed.

The victims are supporters of the Swedish national team, which was playing against Belgium in Brussels. When the Swedish team became aware of events, it was agreed that the game would be abandoned.
