Taxi drivers at Brussels Airport to strike on Friday

Taxi drivers at Brussels Airport will go on strike, for 2.5 hours on Friday. They are protesting against the plans of the Flemish government to introduce a language exam.

Brussels Airport is in Flanders, and knowledge of Dutch is a sensitive issue in Flemish politics. The Flemish government plans to demand a minimal knowledge of Dutch from taxi drivers, requiring them to acquire level B1 by July.

According to the trade unions, up to three-quarters of drivers would lose their licence as a result of the measure.
