Tax return forms become gender-neutral

Belgian tax return forms are changing so that men are no longer automatically listed in the first column ahead of women. The Tax-on-Web portal for 2022 returns was opened online on Wednesday and presented by Finance minister Vincent Van Peteghem (CD&V).

The forms are now ordered by the age of the people completing the return, and tax authorities have said they will be flexible about mistakes regarding the new system.

Everyone, whether they are using an accountant or not, must file their paper tax return by 30 June at the latest. The online tax return via Tax-on-Web can be filed until 15 July.

Automatic extensions until mid-October are only given to self-employed people or people with foreign professional income.
