Tarik Tissoudali wins Ebony Shoe Award

Tarik Tissoudali has won the award for the best African player in Belgian football competition. The 29-year-old Dutch Moroccan of AA Ghent left behind Paul Onuachu of KRC Genk and Joshua Zirkzee of RSC Anderlecht.
The Ebony Shoe Award, which has been awarded every season since 1992, rewards the best footballer of African origin in the Belgian league. This year, the honour goes to Tarik Tissoudali of AA Ghent. The prize is awarded by all trainers of 1A and 1B, journalists and a jury. They chose Tissoudali as the best footballer on the Belgian fields.
Tissoudali and AA Ghent can look back on a brilliant season. The 29-year-old striker was partly responsible for the Buffaloes winning the Belgian Cup and the Europe Play-offs. The Conference League also earned the club quite a bit of money. As the Dutch Moroccan continues to gain prominence, his market value is rising.
Market value
In the winter of 2021, the Buffaloes bought Tissoudali away from Beerschot for 750,000 euros. Meanwhile, the brand new Ebony Shoe Award winner is worth around 7.5 million euros. Not only does he owe this to his brilliant season with AA Ghent. Tissoudali also owes it to his debut for the Moroccan national team earlier this year and his two goals in the decisive qualification matches for the World Cup against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Tissoudali is still under contract with AA Ghent until June 2023, although the club wanted to extend and improve his contract immediately after the cup triumph. Those negotiations are stuck, because both parties can not agree on the conditions.
