Stellantis recalls thousands of cars to prevent fire risk

Car manufacturer Stellantis is recalling 18,500 cars of various brands in Belgium to garages due to a problem that could cause a fire. The problem can be fixed within half an hour, according to Stellantis.
The problem affects cars made by Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Fiat. Loose nuts could cause fuel to leak into a high-pressure pipe, which could lead to higher fuel consumption and, in the worst case, cause a fire.
The recall is a precautionary measure, according to Stellantis. The company says no incidents have been reported and all affected owners have been notified. Normally, a service light would come on when there is a problem.
The problem can be fixed within half an hour by tightening the nut connections, the manufacturer said.
In July, it was announced that Stellantis had to recall approximately 117,000 diesel cars in Belgium due to potential engine problems. Prior to that, thousands of vehicles had to be returned to the garage due to possible issues with Takata airbags.
