The 32nd edition of Open Bedrijvendag (Open Companies Day) takes place today/Sunday. Under the theme 'doing business together, growing together, opening doors together', more than 200 companies in Flanders and Brussels are physically opening their doors, while online tours are available at another 50 or so organisations.
"Open Bedrijvendag wants to give all credit to the passionate Flemish entrepreneurs and their employees," says Inge Claerhout, director of the organisation Voka Open Bedrijvendag. "They strengthen the Flemish economy and society. Swinging open the company gates together on the first Sunday of October provides an enormous boost."
Among the eye-catchers are companies such as suitcase and bag manufacturer Samsonite in Oudenaarde, the Maritime Services and Coast Agency in Antwerp, an ostrich farm in Tielt, DronePort in Sint-Truiden, Delhaize's wine bottling plant in Kobbegem and the Belgian Centre for Guide Dogs in Tongeren. All participating companies are on www.openbedrijvendag.be.
Most companies that physically open their doors are free to visit between 10am and 5pm. Some visits require advance booking.
Due to the corona crisis, a digital edition was launched in 2020, followed by a hybrid edition in 2021. This year, there is another hybrid momentum. "
We find that people also like to check out companies from home to discover their story," Claerhout concludes.
