SNCB launches EuroCity express train between Brussels and Paris

Belgian railway company SNCB launched its EuroCity line to Paris on Tuesday. The train connects the two cities via a single stop in Mons. SNCB also announced that extra trains will run this summer to coincide with the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Tickets are on sale from Tuesday on the SNCB International website and must be booked in advance. A second-class ticket costs from 34 euros one-way.

There will be two extra trains a day to Paris between 24 July and 11 August, the dates of the Olympic Games. Between 28 August and 8 September, there will be one extra train a day for the Paralympics.

"Choosing the train means choosing the most sustainable, relaxing, safe and efficient way to travel to this world sporting event," Belgian Mobility minister Georges Gilkinet said.
