Regional airports report promising results for 2025

Ostend-Bruges Airport welcomed more than 400,000 passengers last year for the first time since 2019, while Antwerp Airport has reported a “change of course” following a difficult 2024, with a positive operating result of 492,000 euros.

Ostend’s figures represent a 15 per cent increase in passengers compared to 2024, when the airport was closed for eight weeks due to the renovation of the runway. Even compared to 2023, there was an increase, of 4.6 per cent. Management expects to welcome 400,000 passengers again this year.

A total of 22,571 flights landed and departed from Ostend in 2025. The amount of cargo handled last year was 26 per cent higher than the previous year at 22,899 tonnes.

The airport closed the year with a positive operating result of 78,000 euros, however, a decline from 2024’s operating profit of 392,000.

"The route to a financially sound company has been set"

Meanwhile, Antwerp airport in Deurne achieved a positive operating result of 492,000 euros last year, contrasting with a loss of more than 650,000 in 2024. Interest charges and taxes still have to be deducted. The final annual accounts for both airports, after approval from the auditor, will be published in June.

Nathan De Valck, CEO of both airports, cited a sustainable expansion of operations, combined with more efficient operations, cost control and modernisation for the change of fortunes at Antwerp.
