Red Panthers reach EuroHockey final after narrow win over Germany

Belgium’s women have qualified for the final of the European hockey championships following a tense 1-0 victory over host nation Germany in Mönchengladbach.

The Red Panthers went ahead early on, with Emily White scoring her first goal of the tournament in the second minute. They held on to their single-goal lead for a hard-fought win and will face the Netherlands in the final on Saturday afternoon.

Belgium finished second in their group, behind the Netherlands, after wins over Italy (6-0) and Spain (5-0) and a 2-0 defeat to the group winners. Germany topped the other group with nine points from their three matches, ahead of England.

The Netherlands cruised through their semi-final, crushing England 7-0.

On Friday evening, Belgium’s men’s team will take on the Netherlands in the semi-final, before Germany play England.
