Queen Mathilde opens exhibition on Belgian artist Michaelina Wautier in Vienna

Queen Mathilde will officially open the exhibition Michaelina Wautier: Painter at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna on Monday. The Queen also visited the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the Austrian capital.
Wautier is a Belgian artist who remained almost completely unknown for centuries but is now considered one of the greatest names in 17th-century painting. She was an important female painter who followed in the footsteps of Rubens and van Dyck.
Earlier on Monday, Queen Mathilde visited the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, as an advocate for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Her visit focused primarily on empowering young people and actively involving them in solutions for health, drugs and crime. The cooperation between UNODC and Belgium was also discussed, and national drugs commissioner Ine Van Wymersch was present.
