Pukkelpop to organise ‘extra festival’ this summer

Pukkelpop, one of Flanders’ largest music festivals, is planning an extra one-day festival this summer, writes daily newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. The extra one-day event will take place on Sunday 14 August, the weekend before the actual Pukkelpop festival starts.
Due to the corovirus pandemic, 2020 and 2021 were two very lean years for festivalgoers. The summer of 2022 promises to make up for those lost years with a well-filled festival agenda. Dance music festival Tomorrowland has already announced a third weekend in July and had joined forces with Rock Werchter for the brand-new CORE Festival, which will be held at the end of May in Brussels. TW Classic, too, which will have two editions this year.
Pukkelpop is now joining other events by announcing an extra festival. Other than the main event, however, this ‘second festival’ will only last one day. The organisation has not yet made clear whether the extra event will take place on the same festival grounds in Kiewit, near Hasselt, and the event has yet to be named.
As far as the line-up goes, no details or names have been revealed so far. Only the date is known: Sunday 14 August, just four days before the start of Pukkelpop. The organisers says they will communicate more details soon, writes Het Nieuwsblad, which was already teased on social media. More information is expected as soon as Monday. Presumably, the first names will be announced then.
