Pukkelpop festival gears up to welcome 45,000 visitors

Music festival Pukkelpop is preparing to host between 40,000 and 45,000 visitors this weekend. The official pre-party takes place on Thursday.

Transport operator De Lijn, which provides daily shuttle buses to and from Hasselt station, dropped off the first festival-goers on Thursday morning at around 9.00, shortly after the campsites opened.

At the official pre-party, festivalgoers will already be able to enjoy musical performances on four stages. Artists include Coely, Brihang and Meltheads. On the Marquee stage, Portland, Equal Idiots and Bizkit Park will warm up the crowd. Guy Legein and Gery Bessemans will perform on the Boiler stage. It is going to be an emotional performance: they have been playing at the campsite parties since before the Boiler stage was christened in 2004.

Prominent artists and bands who will be performing over the next few days include Fred Again.., Sam Smith, Stormz, Royal Blood, Snelle, Skrillex and Marc Rebillet. There will also be plenty of local talent taking to the stage, including Ramkot, Stikstof, Amber Broos and Faisal.

The festival runs until Sunday in Kiewit, Limburg. There are still a few day tickets available for Sunday.
