Port of Antwerp-Bruges signs partnership with Ukraine’s Port Authority

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges has signed a cooperation agreement with Ukraine’s Sea Ports Authority (USPA) to support the recovery and future development of the country’s port sector.

The agreement was signed during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk, Poland, in the presence of Flemish minister-president Matthias Diependaele. USPA oversees 14 Ukrainian ports, although seven are currently under Russian occupation following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Under the deal, the two sides will share expertise on port management, logistics, safety, environmental protection and infrastructure development. The partnership also aims to strengthen maritime transport links and explore future investment and public-private cooperation.

APEC, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges’ training centre, will organise courses, workshops and study visits for Ukrainian port staff. Port officials said the agreement would help support the rebuilding of Ukraine’s ports while allowing both sides to exchange knowledge and experience.
