Port of Antwerp-Bruges increases port dues

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges will increase its concession and port dues by 4.09 per cent from 1 January 2024, the port authority announced on Thursday.

"This is in line with the August consumer price index," the port said. "As in recent years, we must continue to invest in order to ensure our long-term competitiveness."

Investment costs have risen disproportionately, according to the port authority. The port is investing more in material and labour costs and says its financial responsibilities have increased.

"Our long-term competitiveness today is not only linked to infrastructure but also to various expectations, such as digitalisation," it said. "The costs of these must be covered by existing revenues, concession and port dues."

Concession and port dues include tariff regulations for seagoing vessels, inland navigation and the use of quays or land in the port area. Tug fees will also increase.
