Police warns of traffic disruption from Wednesday to Friday

With the NATO summit on Thursday and the European summit on Thursday and Friday approaching, the Brussels police are warning of possible traffic
disruptions.
In the coming days, many heads of state and government will travel to the Belgian capital to take part in the NATO summit and the EU summit. As a result, traffic in and around Brussels will be severely disrupted from Wednesday to Friday. The police of the zone Brussels Capital Ixelles ask people to avoid using their cars as much as possible and instead use public transport.
Besides American President Joe Biden, dozens of other heads of state and government will visit our country next week. Therefore, several security perimeters will be set up in and around the capital. These include the area around the NATO headquarters in Evere, the American embassy in the city centre, The Hotel on Waterloo Avenue and the European quarter. There will be traffic closures and an absolute ban on parking - including for bicycles and scooters.
There will also be temporary traffic closures on the way to and from the perimeters, including on the Brussels ring road, the E40 between Sterrebeek and the Reyers complex, Rue de la Loi, Rue Belliard, Boulevard de Waterloo, Boulevard du Gulden Vlies and the small Brussels ring road above ground. The various tunnels in Brussels will also be closed to traffic.
The public transport companies, STIB and De Lijn, will divert their buses and trams where necessary. The underground trains will continue to run, but the entrances to the Arts-Loi and Schuman stations will be temporarily closed.
