Parking fees in Brussels to almost double from September

Parking in the city of Brussels will become significantly more expensive as of 1 September, with rates nearly doubling in some zones. Two hours in a green zone, for example, will cost €5.50 instead of the current €3. Parking for the same time in a grey or red zone will rise from €5 to €9.20.
With the changes, the city says it is aligning itself with 12 other Brussels municipalities that already apply the regionally established rates.
The higher tariffs are part of a new parking regulation approved by the municipal council in June. The rules are being introduced in phases: in July, parking times, resident permits and fines were already adjusted.
From early 2026, the number of free visitor permits for residents will double from 10 to 20. Additional permits will be paid, with a total cap of 100 permits.
Short stops will still be free, but from September the ticket will be valid for 20 minutes instead of the current 15.
