300 kg of cocaine intercepted in port of Antwerp

A shipment of cocaine amounting to 300 kg was seized in the port of Antwerp this week. One person has been arrested, the East Flanders public prosecutor's office announced on Thursday.

The Antwerp shipping police arrested a person on Tuesday on quay 1333 in Beveren, a part of the port in East Flanders. At the request of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was taken before an investigating judge in Dendermonde, who placed him under investigation.

The suspect will appear before the council chamber on Friday, to decide whether he remains in detention. The public prosecutor's office did not make any further statement, "in the interests of the investigation".
