Number of vacancies in Flanders dropped in February

In February, the number of vacancies in Flanders fell for the eighth month in a row, reported Flemish employment intermediary VDAB. 29,611 vacancies were reported to the VDAB last month, 18.2 per cent less than in February 2022.

Moreover, for the first time since April 2021, the VDAB received fewer vacancies on an annual basis than during the same period last year. In the past 12 months, 373,047 vacancies were reported to the organization: 3.5 per cent less than in the previous 12-month period.

The employment intermediary does note that the overall number of vacancies remains high. Currently, there are over a quarter (27 per cent) more vacancies than during the same period before the COVID-19 pandemic.
