New Hasselt festival brings creative minds together to discuss the future of fashion

Hasselt is organising the first edition of Fashion & Design Hasselt next month. Under the theme “Blank Canvas”, the new four-day festival invites designers, thinkers and creators to discuss the future of fashion and design together.

During Fashion & Design Hasselt, leading names from the world of fashion and design will share their insights on the future of fashion and design through talks, exhibitions, open studios, workshops and pop-ups. Among them will be Hannelore Knuts, Charlotte Adigéry, Toos Franken, Bram Kerkhofs, Lore Langendries, Colin van Eeckhout, Mitchel Elsen, Jordy Arthur and Souad Feriani. In addition, the new festival also wants to offer promising talent a platform to launch their careers.

The Fashion & Design programme is almost entirely free and will be spread across well-known locations in the city. The Fashion Museum will host two exhibitions, including the Poster People expo, which will be organised exclusively during the event. Arts institution Z33 will be the venue for talks, presentations and meetings, with one floor dedicated to designers and a café as a meeting place.

“With Fashion & Design Hasselt, we are consciously focusing on a strategic and structural offering that further puts our city on the map as a centre for fashion and design,” said Hasselt mayor Steven Vandeput during the launch of the new festival. “This event is not a one-off attempt, but a permanent part of our city's DNA.”

The first edition of Fashion & Design Hasselt will run from 23 to 26 October. The full programme can be found at fashiondesign.hasselt.be.
