New Flemish hospital campaign aims to improve image of residential care centres

Zorgnet-Icuro, the umbrella organisation representing Flemish general hospitals and non-profit residential care centres, launched a new campaign on Thursday morning at the Heilig Hart residential care centre in Grimbergen aimed at improving the image of residential care facilities.
The organisation wants to dispel the adverse perceptions surrounding residential care centres. "There is a persistent negative image of residential care centres, as if they are places where people would rather not live or work. That does not do justice to the dedication, professionalism and passion of the many employees who give the best of themselves every day," the campaign states.
"Human dimension of care"
To counter this image, Zorgnet-Icuro is encouraging people to share positive stories about care. The campaign centres around the hashtag #wijwoonzorgenvoorelkaar, inviting individuals to express what residential care means to them via social media. According to Zorgnet-Icuro, the goal is to put everyone who contributes to caring for others, both professionals and non-professionals alike, at the heart of the narrative. This includes not only nurses and care workers but also family members, volunteers and local residents.
With this initiative, the organisation aims to highlight the warm, human dimension of care and make it more visible and relatable to the broader public. "We also want to raise awareness among the general public about the importance that we all, as involved citizens, must cherish and support residential care," concludes Margot Cloet, managing director of Zorgnet-Icuro.
