New CEO for nanotechnology centre imec

Imec, the world-renowned nanotechnology centre headquartered in Leuven, will have a new CEO in April. Patrick Vandenameele will succeed Luc Van den hove, who will become chairman of the board.
Luc Van den hove has been at the helm of imec for 17 years. From April 2026, he will become chairman of the board of directors and will focus on the company's long-term strategy. Patrick Vandenameele will be responsible for day-to-day management from that moment onwards.
Vandenameele started his career at imec in 1996, after obtaining a PhD in electrical engineering from KU Leuven. As a deep tech entrepreneur, he built an international career before returning to imec in 2017. Since 2021, he has played an important role in shaping the research & development strategy. He has been executive vice president and co-chief operating officer since early 2024.
During his career, Vandenameele has founded many start-ups. As CEO, he wants to use this experience to focus even more on spin-offs originating from imec, as he has indicated in interviews.
