Neuhaus launches historical reference book on Belgian chocolate

Belgian chocolate producer Neuhaus has launched a new reference book tracing the rich history of Belgian chocolate. The volume, Neuhaus, the Inventor of the Belgian Praline, was presented on Tuesday at the company’s flagship store in the Queen’s Gallery in Brussels.
It was in this very location that Jean Neuhaus first opened his pharmacy in 1857, the place where the praline was later invented. The book explores the origins of Belgian chocolate and the evolution of the praline through historical photographs, original sketches and recipes. It also features contributions from chefs, fashion designers and chocolatiers. Authors Charlotte Huens and Pacôme Nasier spent nearly two years compiling the work.
“It all started here 160 years ago,” said CEO Isabel Baert. “Our goal is to still be able to stand here 160 years from now and look back on our history. We want to celebrate Belgian craftsmanship even more, and this book is the perfect opportunity.”
Published by Lannoo, the 176-page book will be available in select Neuhaus boutiques and Belgian bookstores. It will be published in Dutch, French and English, ensuring its availability to an international audience.
