Nearly 140 Belgians evacuated from Gaza

Nearly 140 Belgians and rights holders, including "many children", were repatriated from the Gaza strip to Belgium on Monday, Belgian Foreign minister Hadja Lahbib confirmed on Tuesday.

Around 110 Belgians and rights holders are currently still in Gaza. "We remain committed to those who are still on the ground," Lahbib said.

Speaking on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting in Brussels on Monday, Lahbib reiterated her call for "an immediate cessation of hostilities to allow for a humanitarian ceasefire, which we hope will lead to negotiations, a resumption of peace talks".
